Drs. Calvin & Judy Ellison are the founders of Oasis of Hope Church
formerly (Living Hope Ministries). After sitting under the training and
ministry for about ten years, the Lord began to speak to Dr. Ellison about his
call to the Pastorate. Drs. Calvin & Judy first began pasturing out of their
trailer in August 1991 with only seven members. In November, they moved
to a store front building on Main Street in Farmville, North Carolina.
As membership continued to grow, it was soon realized that another
sanctuary was needed. In May 1997, the ministry purchased over 7.8 acres
of land in Farmville. God began to minister to Dr. Calvin’s heart to rename
the ministry to Oasis of Hope Church because not only did He want to give
hurting and wounded people a living hope, but also a place of refuge from
surrounding unpleasantness, a fertile spot in the midst of their desert
circumstances. On May 16, 1999, Oasis of Hope was dedicated by its
overseers, the late Bishop Mack Timberlake and Pastor Brenda Timberlake.
Oasis of Hope Church has various departments and outreaches and
continues to be a church on the cutting edge.
